About Us

Founded in 2017 by Dr. Morris Chris Ongom and Mrs. Susan Ongom
Livingstone Junior School in Lira City, Lango Region, Northern Uganda was established to provide high-quality, value-based early childhood and primary education. The school is deeply rooted in the educational legacies of Dr. David Livingstone, Mr. David Livingstone Okunu; Dr. Ongom’s father, and Mr. Benjamin Bernard Omedi, Susan’s father—both distinguished educationists and statesmen. Drawing from Livingstone’s philosophy of holistic learning, the school nurtures children to be intellectually competent, socially responsible, and spiritually grounded.

Recognizing the gaps in early childhood and primary education in Lira City, Lango Region, Northern Uganda, and Uganda as a whole, including limited access, inadequate learning environments, and a decline in moral education—Livingstone Junior School integrates the Ugandan Kindergarten and Primary School Curriculum with a strong foundation in values-based learning.
Integration with Uganda’s national curriculum
1.⁠ ⁠Early Childhood Development (ECD) – Kindergarten
o Livingstone Junior School follows Uganda’s Early Childhood Development framework, which emphasizes holistic child development—cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth.
o Learning is play-based, incorporating storytelling, music, and hands-on activities to stimulate creativity and curiosity.
o The school enhances the national curriculum by integrating Christian-based character formation, teaching values like honesty, kindness, and respect from an early age.
2.⁠ ⁠Primary Education (P1–P7) aligned with the Ugandan Curriculum
o The school follows the National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) guidelines, covering core subjects such as Mathematics, English, Science, Social Studies, and Religious Education.

Practical learning is emphasized in subjects like Agriculture and ICT, preparing learners for a fast-evolving world.
